ABSTRACT: ionina24yearoldPCBStorageFacilityDanJones,RebeccaMcWatters,R.KerryRoweGeoengineeringCentreatQueen's-RMC,DepartmentofCivilEngineeringŒQueen'sUniversity,Kingston,Ontario,CanadaJeffMarkleMinistryofEnvironmentOntario,London,Ontario,CanadaABSTRACTIn2009,allPolychlorinatedBiphenyl(PCB)contaminatedmaterialsinthePottersburgstoragefacilitywereexcavatedforpermanentdisposal.DepthprofilesofPCBconcentrationsobtainedthroughthecoverandlinersysteminCell2arereported.TheimplicationswithrespecttocontaminantmigrationofPCBsoverthe24yearperiodsincethewastewasplacedarediscussed.Furtherprojectinvestigationsareoutlinedincludingthecharacterizationofthegeomembraneandclaylinermaterialsbyconductinglaboratorydiffusiontestsusingbenzene,toluene,ethylbenzeneandxylenes(BTEX)andPCBsastracers
