ABSTRACT: An experimental research program has been undertaken to investigate the behaviour of spherical particles under compression. Some theoretical aspects are revisited and then the experimental program is presented. The results show that Hertz theory is not the most appropriate theory to describe the contact behaviour between particles. Also the strength and the grain size distribution after crushing are presented.
