ABSTRACT: -stayed bridge, the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge, is being built in Lagos. It connects the city districts of Lekki in the east and Ikoyi in the west, which are separated by a lagoon. The bridge consists of a 720 m long approach bridge on the Lekki side with effective spans of 19 m and a 635 m long main bridge on the Ikoyi side which is erected in segmental construction. Part of the main bridge is a 225 m long section which is built as a cable-stayed bridge with a central pylon. This paper gives an overview of the project and the design of the foundation. Construction and bearing behaviour of the piles is described with a focus on the pylon foundations. Results of static pile load tests as well as from the monitoring program are shown.
