ABSTRACT: This paper attempts to assess empirically the liquefaction potential of cemented paste backfill (CPB) at early age (£ 7 days). The ficyclic failurefl or softening (equivalent to liquefaction for clay-like materials such as CPB) is assessed based on an empirical method. This analysis allowed determining the minimum binder content to avoid the cyclic failure (liquefaction) of cemented mine backfills based on the unconfined compressive strength (UCS).
