ABSTRACT: As nanomaterials can now be found in solid and liquid waste, the ability of geomembranes for containing this new type of contaminants must be verified. To that extent, information learnt from experiments carried out with protective materials used in occupational health and safety indicates that this study shall take into account the conditions geomembranes will experience during service. This includes mechanical stresses, low and high temperatures and contact with chemicals.
