ABSTRACT: Grey system theory can effectively deal with uncertain information. This paper chooses the grey model GM (11) to forecast water demand in a coal mine area. The result showed that the forecasting accuracy of the grey model GM (1,1) was comparatively high and the GM (1,1) could be used to forecast the future water demand of a coal mine area, so it may provide an essential reference for exploitation planning and sustainable utilization of water resources in a coal mine area.
