ABSTRACT: Geostatistics can be used as an efficient modeling tool to represent the spatial variability of the geotechnical properties of dam materials. This study focuses on the improvement of the geostatistical approach used to assess the hydraulic conductivity of an embankment dam compacted till core located in North-East Québec. Geostatistics were used to individually model the multiple geotechnical parameters measured during construction and the kriging estimations of each parameter were in turn used to calculate the hydraulic conductivity. This study shows that the geotechnical parameters analysis priority has a strong influence on the models ability to accurately assess hydraulic conductivity and that a multiple parameter approach allows for a better modeling of the small scale variations caused by variations of the compaction
