ABSTRACT: There are many mega civil construction projects being built across North America requiring owners, engineers and contractors to come up with creative solutions for complex infrastructure problems. Climate change has become an issue for engineers, with storm events increasing in volume and frequency, and resiliency has now become a priority in design. Additionally, the reduction of the carbon footprint on construction projects to minimize the impacts of climate change is being mandated in many international agreements such as COP21. In this paper, we will examine the responsive design to climate change with respect to Reinforced Earth® walls, through case studies. Additionally, we will discuss the Ohio River Bridges - East End Crossing Project that is under construction by Walsh Vinci Construction which is the partnership of Walsh Construction, Vinci Construction Terrassement and Vinci Construction Grands Projets. This project is using the EnvisionTM system to assess its impact on Climate Change among others and is implementing sustainable construction methods.
