ABSTRACT: The applicability of the Perzyna and Duvaut-Lions viscoplastic models in the simulation of the sand behavior under high strain rates is examined and results of both model are compared. In comparison with Perzyna model, Duvaut-Lions viscoplastic model has been investigated less; here, capability of this model on simulation of high strain uniaxial strain tests conducted by Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar is studied and a simple modification on its viscoplastic strain rate equation is presented.
