Auscultation et investigations du pergélisol sous les infrastructures du ministère des Transports du Québec au Nunavik : vers une stratégie d?adaptation

ABSTRACT: Climate changes have an effect on MTQ airport infrastructures in Nunavik. Permafrost thaw causes important differential settlements of embankments and water accumulations appears at the embankment toe. In 2004, the inspection of the infrastructures led to a program of follow-up with instrumentation in vulnerable areas. Geophysics and drillings campaigns allowed improving permafrost characterization and an important thaw was revealed at the embankment toe. Permafrost behaviour to thaw will be evaluated on frozen intact samples. The experiment of adaptation techniques and all the gathered data will serve to develop a strategy of adaptation for each infrastructure.
RÉSUMÉ: Les changements climatiques touchent les infrastructures aéroportuaires du MTQ au Nunavik. La fonte du pergélisol engendre des tassements importants sur les remblais et des accumulations d'eau se forment à leur pied. En 2004, l'inspection des infrastructures a mené à un programme de suivis avec instrumentation aux endroits vulnérables. Des relevés géophysiques et des forages ont permis de mieux caractériser le pergélisol et un dégel important au pied des remblais a été noté. Le comportement du pergélisol au dégel sera évalué sur des échantillons intacts gelés. L'expérimentation de techniques d'adaptation et toutes les données recueillies serviront à développer une stratégie d'adaptation pour chaque infrastructure.
